UWC El Salvador is a volunteer-led group dedicated to selecting and supporting students and their families for the UWC movement. Our members are passionate about education and international understanding, working together to create opportunities for young changemakers.
Our UWC National Committee is made up of individuals who share UWC’s mission and values. These include:
- UWC alums and their families – Former students who have attended UWC schools or short courses and their families, bringing firsthand experience of the UWC journey.
- Education professionals – Teachers, school administrators, and educators who are committed to nurturing young minds and promoting transformative education.
- Community leaders – Individuals from various sectors who support youth development and global citizenship.
- Other volunteers – Supporters of UWC who contribute their time and expertise to help select and guide students.
Our history and impact
- UWC El Salvador is a national committee of the international organization United World Colleges (UWC), headquartered in London, England. Through the UWC El Salvador National Committee, it is responsible, on one hand, for promoting the mission, values, and principles of the movement—which are key to achieving peace and a sustainable future—and on the other hand, for assembling a representative team of young Salvadorans who embrace these UWC principles and values. These students are nominated to attend various UWC schools around the world to pursue the International Baccalaureate (IB), proudly representing El Salvador.
- This group of young representatives has the opportunity, at their age, to interact with peers from all over the world—coming from different socioeconomic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures—while recognizing that it is precisely in this diversity where the richness and sustainability of the world lie.
- In this environment, students follow a high-level academic program recognized worldwide, combined with community service, sports, and artistic creation programs. To date, around 61 Salvadoran students have had the privilege of studying at one of the 18 UWC colleges currently in existence.
- The UWC El Salvador National Committee is made up of alumni, family members, and volunteers who work on a pro bono basis to sustain and increase the participation of Salvadoran students in this outstanding educational movement.
Our commitment
- As part of the global UWC National Committee network, we adhere to UWC’s principles and selection standards.
- Our volunteers include many UWC alums who understand the experience firsthand and are dedicated to guiding new students.
- We maintain strong connections with UWC schools, colleges, and alumni to offer insights and support to students and their families throughout their journey.
